Home Automation |
My plan is to reduce the amount of power used by my computers, and to add an amount of security. The basic idea consists of a computer controlled switch on each device (computer monitor etc) and RFID.
Key points:
- When computer X is off, then it and its screen(s) will be unplugged, so they draw no power.
- When I leave the computers, they are locked (screens unplugged, keyboard & mouse detached)
- When I return, I wave my RFID tag, and life is restored! Different tags could give you different amounts of use, e.g. a 'backup' tag, could turn on 1 screen, and switch the KVM to the linux computer in charge!
